First McKinney Baptist Church, a thriving community hub in McKinney, TX, embarked on an ambitious project to expand its facilities with a new children's addition. Spanning approximately 31,000 square feet, this addition was designed to seamlessly connect the existing church buildings into one cohesive campus. Mako MEP was tasked with the comprehensive MEP design and system upgrades essential for modernizing the church's infrastructure and enhancing its functionality.

Scope

  • Mako performed MEP design for a new children's addition that connected the church’s buildings into one large campus.

  • Mako upgraded the existing chilled water system, providing new chillers, pumps, and extending the chilled water direct bury lines to the new addition.

  • The plumbing systems incorporated high-efficiency fixtures.

  • The fire sprinkler system was refed into the new addition and reconnected to the existing buildings to provide one service to the building.

  • Electrically, the new addition was fed by an owner-controlled/owned medium voltage transformer and stepped down to a 277/480V feed to the new addition.

  • All lighting throughout the new addition is high-efficiency LED light fixtures.
